Today we were supposed to have our final show of the season, but the transmitter was not working making doing a show impossible. I had a chance to say goodbye to Tom.

But as I sat in the studio talking with Tom I came to the conclusion, that I am hanging up my headphones and turning off the mic. I am calling my career as a radio show host to be over with.

I have a lot of respect for those who do radio shows on a daily basis as I know how much work it is.

But I decided to leave for a lot of different reasons. They include time commitments, priorities, and passion.

I have a lot of part-time jobs that I work. The radio show was one that I would spend a couple hours in the studio each week and a couple hours outside of the studio. I was finding it harder and harder to put in the time necessary to have a high quality show.

Do to a shift of priorities and passion I don't make the time to put into the show. I know I have felt really bad about the shows I have done. I think I had a couple good ones this last season, but for the most part, frankly, they sucked.

I was not proud of what I did with the show. I don't want to put out sub par shows. I found today that while talking to Tom my passion to rant and rave about things is gone. I am not sure where it went and why it is gone.

I have a feeling that some of it is the stress over doing poor quality shows. And worse yet, I have some issues with my main job. It has nothing to do with me, but the ownership. We are in an unstable time as we were bought out, but the company is changing its focus from the product I have worked on for four years. That is not a bad thing, but I don't know if I am part of this new focus.

Due to that, I am worried that in the next couple months I may not be able to fulfill my obligations to the radio station -- something I take seriously.

Until I can find the fire in my gut and the willingness to put in the hours necessary to have a great show, I am going ...

Tom Turns the Tables

Today Tom is running the first hour of the show. He sat in the producer seat running the music, topics, and everything. We spent most of the time talking about protesters from France protesting the Olympic torch and a little about the protesters in Pullman on Bishop Blvd.

The second hour I spent most of the time talking about the housing market problems and people taking responsibility for their choices.

Car Buying Advice - Avoid "The Game"

This afternoon's show was one where Tom was out of town. But the other Tom called in. We talked about several items that has been posted on Palousitics.com. Including information about the taxation of the land that Hawkins and WalMart will sit on. What that would mean to the Pullman School District.

The second hour was spent talking about car buying advice. I spoke at length about "The Game". How it is played and how you must play it in order to win.

Eco-Terrorists Strike Seattle-Area

Tom and I talked about the eco-terrorists who possible struck the Seattle-area burning down several houses that were "green" houses in the Street of Dreams.

We also spoke about WSU building a new "green" residence hall on campus.

Lastly I talked about a new place that I was putting together that would be secure, offer meals, bedding, warmth, no weapons allowed, and more greatness. But when it is all said and done I revealed such a place already exists. And there is no safety at such a place.

Privacy and Biometric Information

This afternoon Tom and I talked RFID and privacy. We talked about my concerns about the government collecting data, such as iris scans, DNA, etc and then storing it on smart cards that we are forced to have. Tom thought I was being paranoid and a cospiricy theoriest, but I believe that we are moving down a road we will not return from.

Later on the other Tom called in and we talked about securing data and off site data storage which took us full circle to the Pullman/Moscow area and development.

Transmitter Shortened Show

Today's show we were unable to be on the air for most of the show. Tom and I had a chance to chat for the first hour with each other. I had a chance to teach him how to run the board and how to do some of the necessary things about the studio.

About fifteen minutes into the second hour the transmitter came back online. I did a brief show at that point.

Tom's First Show as Co-Host

Today on The PES

Tom W is the new co-host and we spent some time talking about him, but he quickly turned the tables on me and made me answer the tough questions. We wove through subjects about the presidential candidates, "Super Tuesday", political positioning, and more.

After Tom left I started to talk about the Super Bowl when I got a call from Tom F. He told me that the Whitman County Commissioners voted to approve the bond for the Hawkins Development. It was a great day. Tom and I talked about what that meant for the area.

New Co-Host, Same Name

Next semester, The PES should have Tom as co-host. But this time, it is not Tom Forbes, instead it is Tom Westphal. He has been a guest the past two weeks. And just like Tom Forbes who had been a multi-time guest, Tom was asked today and accepted the invitation to co-host the show.

Ron Paul Supporters' Interview

Today on The PES I will be talking with some Ron Paul Supporters. Geoffrey Sechter and Tom from the Washington State University Students for Ron Paul club came to speak with the listeners about Ron Paul's election platform.

We also talked about some political issues in general.

NBC Goes Green

The show included the topics of NBC's green week. Where they are sending crews around the world on jets, but they are doing the right thing and buying "Carbon Offsets". Also the usage of a gas-powered mower and what it does to the environment. When checking with various websites I found that no one agreed on the amount of damage.

Then we talked for a few minutes about IM softball as a top of the hour break.

Ended the show talking about the upcoming election and voting. That lead to the topic of whether students who do not register to vote in Pullman should have a say in the city government.

I was talking with someone at work today. I have been needing to update my radio shows' website for some time. The old site was built for the show have in 2002 and it was out of date. It worked well when I had a lot of time to update it all the time and keep on top of it, but since I don't have the time anymore to do that, I needed something more simple. I wanted a place to do a quick show recap and leave a link to the audio for the show. He suggested that I use blogging software. I thought about it and realized for what I want to do with the site now, that really would be the best was to do it.

I will spend some time going through my old show archives and try to transfer everything over here that I can. Then I will keep this up to date. I am excited to finally have a Website that people can use to get what they need.
